Living locally with his wife and daughter, Dean has a proud family heritage in the area as some of his descendants were founding members of the district.  Settling in 1860 some main streets including McGinn Road in Ferny Grove, Collins Road in Everton Hills and Weston Drive in Bunya are named after his forefathers. Dean is an active member of the community including assistance to multiple schools, sporting clubs and participates in a number of other Defence & Veteran related charity initiatives.
