Tyre Team Flattens Prices To Celebrate New Store

An extra-special tyre deal is the way JAX Tyres Tyres is celebrating the opening of its very latest outlet, in the southern Brisbane suburb of Browns Plains.

The new store, near the shopping centre on Grand Plaza Drive, is the 73rd in the chain that was formed when Queensland's Quickfit Tyre group merged last year with the Sydney-based company, JAX Tyres.

During March 2006 and April 2006, customers who wish to fit Michelin XM1 or MXV8 tyres to their passenger cars can buy a full set of four tyres, but only pay for three.

For example, the XM1 tyre for most Commodores, Camrys, Magnas or Falcons usually retail for around $120 each. This means this special deal will cost around $360 for four tyres, or $90 each.

"Most popular brand-name tyres cost around $100, but these are Michelins, arguably the number one tyre brand in the world, so it is excellent value - a real celebratory special," says store manager, Clayton Williams.

The Browns Plains site has been a tyre store (under a different name) for the last 10 years, but had a total update in readiness for its re-opening.

It offers five fitting bays with state-of-the-art equipment for tyre fitting, alignment and balancing as well as providing a range of other under-car services such as brakes and suspension.

"We stock all the major tyre brands for passenger cars, 4WDs and light commercials, including Pirelli, Bridgestone, Dunlop and Michelin, and a wide range of wheels from manufacturers such as ROH, Speedy, CSA and BBS," says Mr Williams, who has more than 25 years' experience in all aspects of the tyre industry.

Born and bred in New Zealand, Clayton has worked for major tyre companies such as Firestone and Bridgestone, in car dealerships and for specialist tyre retailing groups in both Australia and New Zealand.

With his wife and four sons (now aged 12 to 16), he moved initially to Perth in 1999 before heading east to Brisbane in 2001.

Clayton joined JAX Tyres in February this year and has worked closely with company management to ensure the store is keyed to efficient, friendly service and highly competitive prices, right from the start.

"Clayton thoroughly understands tyres and customer service," says Gary Phillpotts, Regional Operations Manager.

"He brings years of experience and knowledge to this role, which is of huge benefit to his customers, and to us at JAX Tyres.

"We're confident the combination will make the Browns Plains' store the must-stop shop for anyone in the area who is in the market for wheels and tyres," Mr Phillpotts says.
