Bowe races his final Bathurst on Dunlop's 50,000th tyre

Dunlop was delighted to confirm its milestone 50,000th control tyre supplied to the Championship was fitted to John Bowe's Ford Falcon BA at the Bathurst 1000.

Dunlop had a strong presence at this year's Bathurst, benefiting from increased track signage, a new Dunlop television advertisement broadcast on the big screens, and the opportunity to host a number of guests at the event including key customers and top dealers.

Both Dunlop and Bowe entered Mount Panorama in high spirits with Bowe and co-driver Jonathon Webb scoring the Glenfords Racing team's best-ever result in Round Nine at Sandown, whilst Dunlop, arrived at Bathurst after recently winning the official tyre supplier contract to the V8 Supercar Championship Series through to the end of the 2012 season.

This has been a tremendous year for Dunlop extending the long-term relationship with the V8 Supercar Championship Series by winning the contract to be the official supplier of the sport for a further five years.

"Dunlop is an iconic name in Motorsport and a world famous motorsport event like Bathurst was the perfect place to show the new injection into the Dunlop brand and our intentions for the brand moving forward," explained Michelle Upton, Dunlop Brand Manager. "It was also a great way to show the capacity crowd at the event, as well as the millions watching from their homes around the world, Dunlop's proud association with the V8s, whilst communicating the key message that everything Dunlop utilises in terms of Motorsport technologies it applies when designing its road tyres."

For Kevin Fitzsimons, Dunlop's Operations Manager (who was working his 21st Bathurst) and the servicing team, it was a massive effort fitting and servicing 744 tyres to the Championship Series and 236 to the competitors in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series during the weekend. The logisticsof getting the tyres to Bathurst shouldn't be underestimated with the tyres for this weekend's round built in May at Nagoya, Japan before being shipped to Australia where they arrived in mid July.

"Dunlop has a long and proud association with Bathurst and John Bowe so we were delighted to hear that our 50,000th tyre had been allocated to him,"

explained Kevin. The Dunlop V8 Supercar control tyre is manufactured at the company's specialised racing tyre factory in Nagoya, Japan, where each of the 1,100 tyres to be supplied at Bathurst take more than three hours to be hand-crafted.

Glenfords Racing driver, John Bowe, said: "From the first race of 2002, which was when Dunlop commenced the V8 Supercar control tyre contract, the V8 Supercar Championship Series has gone from strength to strength. This is due in no small part to the stability, quality, consistency and service that Dunlop has brought to the category.

"So it is a pleasure for me to drive on Dunlop's 50,000th tyre in my final Bathurst after seeing the tyre company roll out consistent product year after year whilst providing world class service on and off the track."
