Goodyear Assurance : Tyre Talk
With the launch of the Goodyear Assurance in Australia and New Zealand, this month's TyreTalk speaks to Glenn Cross, National Product Manager on the tyre that promises to be a big success through 2008:
What elements make up ArmorGrip Technology™ and what benefit will this bring to the customer?
To explain ArmorGrip Technology™ we need to break it down into its two distinct elements. In terms of GRIP - the interlocking waffle blade technology provides consumers with maximized traction, handling and grip. The silica-based tread compound improves braking, cornering and handling in wet and dry conditions as well as helping to reduce rolling resistance.
COMPETITIVE BENCHMARK - GRIP The ARMOR of ArmorGrip refers to the layer of DuPont™ Kevlar® for outstanding durability as well as Durawall technology which utilizes a layer of high strength rubber in the sidewall of the tyre for extra strength and to help resist impact damage.
How does the new WaffleBlade technology compare to the Bubble Blade technology that was in the Goodyear Ducaro GA?
Waffle Blades are a significant improvement over Bubble Blade technology. Waffle Blade technology vastly increases the interlocking surface. This significantly reduces lateral movement and increases circumferential movement, the net effect being improved handling and reduced wetbraking distance.
How superior is Assurance versus the competition?
In general we have the best "grip" against the competition in its class, plus a unique "Armor" feature, which no other passenger tyre has. The Goodyear Assurance was benchmarked versus the competition and as the table left shows, the tyre excelled in the wet and dry against its competition.
What are the key benefits of Goodyear Assurance to the customer?
ArmorGrip technology utilises a layer of DuPont™ Kevlar® for outstanding durability Waffle Blade technology a 3 dimensional blading system (featuring a ball and socket mechanism) for maximised traction Silica Compound provides improved braking, cornering & handling in wet & dry conditions. It also reduces resistance which can improve fuel economy The Goodyear Assurance has been developed to provide drivers with "Superior Grip and Durability". The ArmorGrip Technology™ featuring Waffle Blade, silica tread compound and DuPont™ Kevlar® strongly support these key safety benefits sought by consumers.
What sizes will the Goodyear Assurance be available in?
