Denyer Flies in for Fyshwick Visit
Australia’s fastest forecaster was in Canberra last weekend [May 6] to officially open the newest outlet of the JAX Tyres Tyre chain.
Grant Denyer, full-time weather presenter for Seven’s Sunrise programme and part-time V8 Supercar driver, was a major part of the opening celebrations of the Fyshwick store, helping CEO Jeff Board and marketing manager, Glyn Parry, with ribbon-cutting duties.
Denyer’s Dick Johnson Racing Falcon is sponsored by JAX Tyres. This year is his second season in the V8 Supercar development series but the fourth year of his association with the tyre group, after they teamed up in 2003 when Denyer was competing in the V8 BRutes.
The new Fyshwick store is the latest outlet of what is now a 72-store chain along the east coast, created late last year when two of the biggest names in Australian tyre retailing joined forces. It’s also the first of six around the Canberra area.
The new store (38 Gladstone Street) is probably more familiar to passers-by as a former Strathfield Car Radio outlet, but its distinctive new colours and signage point to it being set to make a very different noise.
It is equipped with the very latest in tyre and wheel fitting machinery, including the most high-tech equipment from Italy, and has the capability to fit up to 23-inch wheels.
Denyer was at the store for more than two hours, meeting locals and signing autographs, in what turned out to be a big party, broadcast live by FM104.7.
Denyer’s next race meeting will be Round Two of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar series, at Wakefield Park near Goulburn, over the weekend of May 26-28
As part of the opening celebrations at Fyshwick, a customer who bought two tyres or more was automatically entered in a draw with the chance to win a weekend for two at Wakefield Park and a hot lap with Denyer in the JAX Tyres-sponsored Supercar.
