Dunlop up to the extremes of the new-look V8 calendar

The back to back V8 Supercar Series rounds at Tasmania and Bahrain are a prime example of how two different races produce two very different challenges for the Dunlop tyres fitted to all cars in the Championship.

The pint-sized circuit at Symmons Plains in Tasmania ­ at 2.4km the smallest on the V8 Supercar circuit ­ produced some monumental battles in the weekend's second race, changing conditions from wet to dry, safety car periods, drama in the pits and some fiercely competitive driving rated among the best of the season.

Kevin Fitzsimons, V8 Supercar Operations Manager explained: "In Tasmania, the tyres performed exceptionally considering the changing conditions from wet to dry, the numerous safety car restarts and the debris that was liberally sprinkled around the circuit. Once they got into their racing they certainly went at it hard and there was no let off with Bahrain just two weeks later."

"In Bahrain you have a circuit that gives the tyres the most extreme work out. Not only are the track temperatures extremely high but this particular circuit incorporates hairpins, blind corners and fast long straights that encourage heavy, last minute breaking. All of this combined certainly gives the tyres a damn good workout."
